A table lists suffixes and their bases in alphabetical order, with cross references to the first section; three others show modern and classical verb and adjective categories and their bases. There are also short sections on grammatical patterns, respect verbs, sound changes, and traditional kana usage. About the Author
Helen Craig McCullough (1918-1998) was an eminent scholar of classical Japanese poetry and prose. Her scholarly publications include 11 volumes of studies and translations. She co-authored with husband William H. McCullough the monumental two-volume translation and study of A Tale of Flowering Fortunes, whose authoritative notes and appendices make it an encyclopedia of Heian court life. Her books provide authoritative interpretations of masterpieces in classical Japanese literature. Other titles include Tales of Ise, The Tale of the Heike, Anthology of Poems Ancient and Modern, and The Great Mirror.

A good book, but best supplimented with another

This book is a good reference grammar, and very good for the student of Classical Japanese. However the Japanese vocabulary in the book is not explained well, and it is all in romaji. I would recommend anyone who buys this book to buy a good grammar or dictionary with it. Such as the new Classical Japanese: A Grammar and Classical Japanese Reader and Essential Dictionary books.

A must for students of Classical Japanese!

This reference manual is a concise, yet thorough overview of the Japanese language of the classical era. As stated in the preface, its mere aim is to "bring together useful materials from Japanese reference works in a form convenient for Western students using the classical language." And so it does, with many references from the more well known writings, such as Genji Monogatari, Makura no sooshi, and Man'yooshuu, among others. The manual is carefully divided into various sections, based on grammatical function; vocabulary items are then introduced, with its various semantic values and its Modern Japanese cognate, or equivalent. Subsequently, examples are taken from a piece of classical literature to illustrate the particular vocabulary item's function--this method helps to maintain a high level of retention. Overall, this is a wonderful little book that is a lot more valuable than it actually costs...it is an investment that is priceless!

The best book on sling / suspension training there is

This book contains everything you need to get started and will forever be a reference you keep going back to.

I've had the book for over a year and first of all it helped me understand the basics on how to workout efficiently with slings, and then had everything I needed to put together a couple of workout programs.

As I progressed I simply looked up more and more advanced exercises and put them in my program as needed.

Couple of months ago in started mountain climbing, and wouldn't you know - this book has a ready made program for just that. Now that's awesome! :)

I actually use this book for ideas with the TRX Suspension Training. Most of the exercises you can do with the TRX but I am also interested in the sling for use at home. The information, pictures, and instructions are well writing.

About the Author

Daniel R. Boone celebrates his 60th year as a speech-language pathologist with the publishing of this Ninth Edition of The Voice and Voice Therapy. Dr. Boone has held professorships over the years at Case Western Reserve University, University of Kansas Medical Center, University of Denver, and the University of Arizona (where he is now a professor emeritus). Dr. Boone is a former president of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and holds both a Fellowship and the Honors of that organization. He is the author of over 100 publications and is well known nationally and internationally for his many workshop presentations. Dr. Boone is perhaps best known for his love of his students and turning them on to the excitement of clinical voice practice.

Stephen C. McFarlane is a professor emeritus at the School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno. He was awarded ASHA Fellowship in 1982 and ASHA Honors in 1999. He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from Portland State University and his Ph.D. degree from the University of Washington. Dr. McFarlane has a long history of research interests in the area of voice disorders. Study of the outcomes from voice therapy and the development of new treatment techniques are of particular interest. His scholarly work has been published in dozens of books and journals, among them Seminars in Speech and Language; American Journal of Speech Language Pathology; Phonoscope; and Current Opinion in Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery.

Shelley L. Von Berg teaches, practices, and researches in the areas of voice, dysphagia, and motor speech disorders in adults and children in the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at California State University, Chico, where she holds the rank of Associate Professor. She earned her M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from the School of Medicine at the University of Nevada, Reno. She has presented on the assessment and intervention of neurogenic speech-language disorders nationally and abroad, and also teaches abroad on occasion. Dr. Von Berg has been published in the ASHA Leader Series; Unmasking Voice Disorders; Language, Speech, and Hearing Services in Schools; Current Opinion in Otolaryngology & Head and Neck Surgery; Cleft Palate-Craniofacial Journal; and AAC Journal. Her areas of interest are intelligibility and comprehensibility of synthetic speechand speech produced by individuals with motor speech disorders.

Richard I. Zraick holds the rank of Professor in the Department of Audiology and Speech Pathology, a consortium program offered by the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) and the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). He earned his doctorate at Arizona State University. Dr. Zraick is a clinician and teacher-scholar with over 25 years’ experience in clinical practice and academia. His research grants, journal articles, and book chapters are in the areas of voice disorders, neurogenic speech-language disorders, speech and voice perception, clinical skills training, and health literacy. He regularly speaks about these topics at state, regional, and national scientific and professional conventions. He is a recipient of multiple Faculty Excellence in Research and Faculty Excellence in Teaching awardsfrom both UALR and UAMS.

✔ Scholarly Work - in-depth Analysis of Voice Problems

I had opportunity to study this book in depth, in search of answer to voice problem. Lots of excellent material by a renowned expert in the field. This edition will have much more recent technology compared to even 10 years ago.

I literally have 20 "sticky notes" marking excellent places for further study. For example, suggested therapy #25 is the famous, "Yawn-sigh." This is used to establish a low-larynx position. I found this to be very helpful.

This is a good text, but the e-book did not meet my needs as the video links were not enabled, and there does not seem to be a link to a web site. As it is a voice class, the audio and video material is a requirement.

I got in touch with customer service who refunded the entire cost of my e-text rental. I will reorder the text in a different format with multi-media content.
